Veteran actress Sukumari no more
Veteran Malayalam and Tamil actress Sukumari
who was under treatment at the hospital for the burn injuries, passed
away at a private hospital, following cardiac arrest. Global Hospital
administration says that "She was undergoing the treatment for burn
injuries in our hospital for the last few days and on Today (Mar.29) she
died of cardiac arrest" at around 5:30 pm.
Sukumari was admitted to the hospital after suffering from fire burns, which caused when she
was trying to light the lamp, even she underwent plastic surgery. Tamil Nadu
Chief Minister Jayalalitha had paid a visit to her in the hospital, but Today's news came as a shock to the Malayalam and Tamil film fraternity.
Padmashri awardee Sukumari has acted in over 2500 films and her passion for films bring her to this field at the age of 10. She is survived by her son Dr Suresh Bhimsingh. She is also the first cousin of Travancore sisters Lalitha, Padmini and Ragini.
As per the reports are coming, her last rite will take place in Chennai on tomorrow and her body won't be taken to Kerala. Apart from that Mammootty and Mohanlal will fly off to Chennai by tonight.
